California's Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriages, was ruled unconstitutional by a federal appeals panel in San Francisco yesterday. The decision could ultimately bring the issue of gay marriage to the Supreme Court. The proposition, approved by 52-percent of California's voters in 2008, was overturned by the appeals panel in a two-to-one vote.
